Moving and handling in Bariatrics | Duration ½ day | Suitable for experienced people handlers who move bariatric people |
All courses cover the key course content of:
- Relevant legislation
- Anatomy, mechanics and function of the spine
- Biomechanics and ergonomics including posture
- Controversial techniques
- Risk assessment
- Problem solving
- Use of relevant equipment
- Practical sessions
At the end of the course the candidate will:
- Understand how current legislation affects employees and employers
- Understand the workings of the spine and how it is affected by manual handling
- Be able to identify hazards
- Think of ways to reduce the risk to clients, themselves and colleagues
- Employ safe handling techniques
- Be confident in using relevant equipment
The trainer course is assessed slightly differently as there are assignments related to the PTLLS element that are written based on the training of manual handling.
