I attended a great YBE meeting at Winncare Bradford on 16th July. The Winncare factory tour was interesting, learning how they are streamlining their factory systems to reduce lead times on their product range.
An interesting and interactive afternoon followed the busines smeeting, we were introduced to (or reminded of) several products WInncare supply. The bariatric repositioning sheet, Systam positioning cushions, Mangar Elk Camel and Eagle and the Luna hoist.
The Luna hoist interested me as it is so low profile from the ceiling and can be used either way up. the cassette lowering or staying by the rail. It can be easily transported between different rails and has a trolley so no lifting / carrying is required.
the Bariatric repositioning sheet can be attached to 2 overhead hoists working in tandem to spread the load, the person can then be moved on the bed and rolled for pressure relief, comfort or personal care.
The Systam cushions can now be supplied with soft bamboo covers which are easily removed for washing while leaving the wipeable PU cover in place so the cushion can still be used.
The Mangar products are great for lifting an uninjured person from the floor to seated and it was interesting to consider the person could turn to sit astride the corner of the seat once inflated so they can use their hands to push up into standing.
